Recognition of Lt. Col. Sam Sharpe, M.P.

It was a great honour to participate in the long overdue recognition of Lt. Col. Sam Sharpe, who tragically died while serving his country simultaneously as an M.P. and army officer 100 years ago to the day on May 25, 2018. Thank you to Erin O’Toole, Jennifer O’Connell, Minister Seamus O’Regan, and so many others for ensuring that this recognition occurred.

I joined some of those listed above a few days later in Uxbridge, at the unveiling of the statue and plaque in his honour. The Township of Uxbridge is located in what was once Lt. Col. Sharpe’s riding.

Click here for an article in the Globe and Mail to learn more about Lt. Col. Sharpe, and the recognition. Note that this was written before it happened.

In this video clip below, you can watch Erin O’Toole bringing forward a unanimous consent motion on the recognition of Sam Sharpe.
